Art inspired by nature

Cary Gallery of Artists is exhibiting a series of paintings by Phyllis Andrews called "Winter Magic" through Feb. 23. In these acrylic paintings, life is portrayed with serenity and humor. Her snow scenes transform the ice and cold of winter into a place where anything can happen.

Nature also inspires the ceramics of Susan Luster, which are also on display. Each of her pieces has leaves pressed into the clay before it is fired. The impressions are then hand-painted, preserving the images of our fragile environment.

The gallery is at 200 S. Academy St., Ashworth Village, Cary.
