'The Lake House'

The Architecture Movie Series, sponsored by Triangle Modernist Homes, continues at 7 p.m. Thursday at Galaxy Cinema, 770 Cary Towne Boulevard, with "The Lake House," starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

"A great love story, but the real star of the movie is the house," said George Smart, founder and executive director of trianglemodernist houses.com . "And prior to the screening, moviegoers will learn how it was constructed and destroyed just after completion."

"The Lake House" was built at Maple Lake near Chicago expressly for the movie. Architect Nathan Crowley took the 2,000-square-foot glass house from sketches to completion in just ten weeks.

"I loved it," Bullock said of the house. "I was so disappointed that I couldn't keep it, move it, and at least use it as a guest house somewhere."
