The Moonlighters will perform a free concert at Cary's Herbert C. Young Community Center on Friday.
It's a memorial to celebrate Charlie Chiklis, who founded the band two decades ago. Chiklis died of cancer on Aug. 31. The concert will celebrate his life, his music and the contributions he gave to the Cary community.
"We're excited about coming together and using music to remember Charlie," Sarah Preston, Cary's performing arts coordinator, said in a statement. "From the stage to the dance floor, we hope to capture his spirit and end the night with large donation to the American Cancer Society."
The Moonlighters are a dance band with a broad repertoire of music including swing, foxtrots, waltzes and Latin tempos. The band also tackles shag, soft rock and country music arrangements.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m at 101 Wilkinson Ave. Admission is free. Donations will be collected in memory of Chiklis and donated to the American Cancer Society.
