A Fuquay-Varina man has been arrested and charged with breaking into more than a dozen businesses in North Raleigh and Holly Springs.

Gaven Marcus Stubberfield, 35, of 3501 Wakeford Drive in Fuquay-Varina, is charged with 15 felony counts of breaking and entering into North Raleigh businesses this week, according to Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

Stubberfield is also charged with a shopping list of traffic violations after he led authorities on a 30-minute chase along Glenwood Avenue, Edwards Mill Road and Duraleigh Road. At one point during the early morning chase, he called 911 and threatened to kill a passenger he said he had in his car. When he was apprehended near Crabtree Valley Mall, Stubberfield was alone in the car, police said.

The Highway Patrol has charged Stubberfield with driving while impaired, careless and reckless driving, stoplight violations and resisting arrest.

Among the businesses Stubberfield is charged with burglarizing are: Oliver Twist on Creedmoor Road; 02 Fitness on Creedmoor Road; and Blooming Balloons and Auto Bell, both on Falls of Neuse Road.

Holly Springs police have charged Stubberfield with one felony count of breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering in the burglary of Sunset Lube at 100 Matthews Road on Sunday, court records show.

Stubberfield was being held Thursday in the Wake County jail. Bail was set at $330,000.
