APEX ELEMENTARY
Got Books? Apex Elementary will take them for a children's book drive through Friday. Bring gently read children's books to Apex Elementary, 700 Tingen Road. Look for the book drive bins in the school office and outside the school library. A carpool drop off will also be available during the book drive.
APEX HIGH
The PTSA program for March will be "The College Admission Process," at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Media Center. Local university and college representatives will discuss the admission process for their schools.
ATHENS DRIVE HIGH
Ryan Petersbury and Natalie Bader were chosen to perform in the Honor Band of America. Both students are active in the ADHS marching, symphonic and jazz band programs. Ryan plays the trumpet and Natalie plays the flute.
ADHS production of "Little Shop of Horrors" will run April 15 to 17. Tickets at the door will be $10.
Justin Foresrieri received first place in Localcolor Gallery's "Made Like That" art competition.
CARY ACADEMY
Four players from the girls' basketball team and two from the boys' team made the All-OT Team of HighSchoolOT.com. Mickayla Sanders has been selected to the girls' basketball All-OT first team. Kelsey Lee and Kelly Andrejko have made the second team. Katherine Hooker made the third team. Jimmy Joyner made the boys' first team, and Cameron Walton made the second team.
In the Green Cup Challenge, Cary Academy lowered electricity use by more than 4 percent during the month-long contest. This puts CA in second place behind Greensboro Day School. Also, CA cut its energy use by 13.99 percent compared to last year's energy consumption.
DAVIS DRIVE ELEMENTARY
Davis Drive will hold this year's Laps of Love, a fundraiser for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, on April 9. A survivor lap starts at 8 a.m. Then the different grade levels take turns walking laps around the carpool lane. Students buy wristbands and buttons that say who they are walking in memory/honor of.
Popcorn, lemonade and cookies will be on sale.
GRACE CHRISTIAN
The school is hosting the Second Annual Chairman's Cup Invitational Golf Tournament at Prestonwood Country Club on March 29. If you'd like to get involved to play golf with a foursome or to pursue sponsorship, contact Victoria Cash at 919-747-2020.
MIDDLE CREEK HIGH
Middle Creek High School will collect materials until March 18 to be sent to deployed service members in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Youngsville chapter of Blue Star Mothers and students in the National Honor Society will help pack the boxes on March 19.
PANTHER CREEK HIGH
A poem by Rachel Krauza was a district winner in the National PTA Reflections Program. Reflections is an arts recognition and achievement program for students.
Panther Creek will host its annual talent show "Panther Creek's Got Talent" at 7 p.m. on March 19 and March 20.
PENNY ROAD ELEMENTARY
The Penny Road Elementary Talent Show will be Friday in the school gym. Kindergartners and first-graders perform at 6 p.m., second- and third-graders at 6:30 p.m., and fourth- and fifth-graders at 7 p.m.
The next PTA meeting will be March 25, at 7 p.m. in the Media Center.
RESURRECTION LUTHERAN
Sophia Czekalski of Holly Springs and Jonathan Otten of Raleigh were among the winners in the recent North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair regional competition at Wakefield Middle School.
Sophia won an Elementary School Grand Award for her project, "Egg Free Baking: Is it Flat and Flavorless?" She will advance to the state Science Fair at Meredith College on March 25.
Jonathan's project, "Illuminating Discoveries: Which Artificial Light Source is Best for Plants" received a third place middle school award for physical sciences.
