In 2009, Panther Creek had trouble winning on the road. This year's squad - full of talented seniors - wanted to make its road woes a thing of the past.
The Catamounts did just that Friday night, getting 129 total yards and two touchdowns from running back Jonathan Douglas and defeating Durham Jordan 30-14.
"I'm proud of my kids," Panther Creek coach Wayne Bragg said. The Falcons (1-1) drew first blood as quarterback Sam Selig found Meshach Chavis on a quick slant for a 50-yard touchdown and a 7-0 advantage.
Panther Creek (2-0), however, quickly answered with a 7-play, 49-yard drive on its ensuing possession, as Kameron Byrant took it in on a quarterback sneak from one yard out to even the score and eventually took a 10-7 halftime lead on Garrett Lang's 30-yard field goal late in the second quarter.
Bryant found Douglas on a 7-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 17-7 in the third quarter.
A Jordan fumble was answered with Douglas scoring on a 1-yard touchdown three plays later to put the game out of reach.
