Police search for driver
Police are looking for a white pick-up truck after reports of suspicious activity.
Police responded to a report from the Sunset Oaks neighborhood Friday afternoon. A 12-year-old girl returning home from school said the unidentified driver of the truck offered her a ride, according to police.
The girl became frightened and ran home, the town said. The driver left in the opposite direction.
The girl was in the area of Grantwood Drive after getting off the school bus.
Holly Springs officers searched the area for the vehicle in attempt to interview the driver, according to a news release. Officers have not confirmed that any crime was attempted.
Fuquay man gets assault charges
RALEIGH A Fuquay-Varina man was arrested and charged with assaulting and trying to strangle a woman Sunday in Raleigh.
Roy Earl Garris, 54, choked the victim with both hands and told her he would kill her before police arrived and arrested him, according to an arrest warrant.
The victim had two black eyes, marks on her neck, a damaged nose, and contusions on her ribs and above her left eye brow, according to the warrant.
Garris, of 90 June Bug Lane in Fuquay-Varina, was charged with assault by strangulation and assault causing serious bodily injury.
