Battle named as all-star

The rosters for the annual N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Basketball games announced last week include one local player.

Middle Creek senior Amber Battle will represent the area, joining the East team roster.

She will play with players from Triangle teams such as Southeast Raleigh and Hillside.

The game is schedule for July 18 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Battle is the first Middle Creek player in school history to play in the coaches' all-star game.

As a senior this year, Battle averaged 11.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game.

She ended her career as the school's all-time leader in blocks (394) and rebounds (707).

She will play at University of Richmond next fall.
