TEACHERS RECEIVE TECHNOLOGY GRANTS
Six Wake County teachers received grants from Technology for Teaching in a ceremony Jan. 26 at the Raleigh Business and Technology Center.
Barbara Cooper of Baucom Elementary School in Apex received a $587.70 grant for the purchase of a Document Camera compatible with Smart Board Technology.
Janiece Dilts of Holly Springs High School received a $999 grant to buy 10 Amazon Kindles in support of her English I inclusion class.
Jennifer Hosenfeld of Reedy Creek Elementary School in Cary received a $1048 grant to purchase an AV projector in her autism classroom. The school will receive $548 in cash, and $500 will be donated to have the device installed.
Laura Preston of Holly Springs High School received a $725 grant to purchase a Biometric Time Clock for her Occupational Course of Study.
Christine Tuttell and Margaret Knox-Ingle of Holly Grove Elementary School in Holly Springs received a $1,067.16 grant to purchase six iPod Touches in support of their "Mountain to Sea Trail Social Studies Project."
JORDAN ACADEMY SCHOLARS PERFORM AT SPRING ARBOR
Musical scholars from Jordan Academy in Apex entertained an audience of more than 20 residents at the Spring Arbor Retirement Community Jan. 20.
Aiden James McLaughlin, Krithika Velappan, Tiffany Tang and Megan Tang played two selections each on the piano, which included Faber's "Concert Sonatina," Beethoven's "Sonatina in G Major," and Bach's "Two-Part Invention in D Minor."
Ranging in age from 9 to 13, the Jordan Academy Scholars have received tuition scholarships in return for performing in the local community.
