In response to the article "Cary may legalize contraband hens" in Sunday's paper: Are they kidding? The South in general gets a bad rap as (being) rednecks, hillbillies and uneducated. This would only convince the critics even more.

We live in the Town of Cary and have an Apex mailing address. I don't feel that farmyard animals of any kind should be in neighborhood communities. We have a few neighbors who have trouble keeping their yard in compliance with the (homeowners association) standards, and they don't have any chickens. I shudder to think what my neighborhood could look like if backyard chickens are allowed.

Please, Cary elected officials, say "no" to any backyard farm animals.
