Your (Feb.15) story, "Nonprofit to host large solar panel system," quotes Kathy Miller, vice-president of (Yes! Solar Solutions), the company installing solar panels on the roof of Dorcas Ministries, as saying that its installation was a "win-win-win to the fourth level." She conveniently omits any mention of the losers.
First, taxpayers will need to pay more to make up the $675,000 in tax credits to pay for the installation of the panels. Second, customers of Progress Energy pay higher rates because Progress pays above market prices for solar-generated power.
Let's call it a lose-lose to the third power.
