Cary High School

The Cary High School Navy JROTC unit will hold new cadet orientation on Monday, Aug. 6 and Tuesday, Aug. 7. Drill and Marksmanship practices will begin the same week. For information, call 919-380-3617 or email pbrown1@wcpss.net.

Green Hope High School

• A fall sports kickoff meeting/pig pickin’ will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. Barbecue plates will be sold beginning at 11 a.m. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m.

• The second annual Green Hope Falcon Football Association Golf Tournament will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary. Cost is $100 for individuals; $400 for foursome. The event will include a four-person scramble, box lunch, gift bag and awards reception. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin and putting contest winners. Holly Springs High School

Holly Springs High School will hold a cheerleading clinic for grades kindergarten through eighth at 4 p.m. Friday, August 17 at 5329 Cass Holt Road. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. Cost is $25. Participants will learn to cheer, chant, dance, jump, stunt and tumble; then perform their cheers during the first quarter of the Holly Springs High School football game. UNCW Triangle Area Alumni Chapter

The UNCW Triangle Area Alumni Chapter will hold a Durham Bulls Picnic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Durham Bulls will play the Columbus Clippers at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children ages five and younger. Tickets will not be available after Sunday, Aug. 5.
