SAS Championship Blue 5K seeking participants

Runners, families and friends can now register for the third annual Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina’s Blue 5K at the SAS Championship to be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

Participants will run the back nine holes of the tournament course prior to the start of the second round of the SAS Championship.

Immediately following the 5K race, awards and post-race food will be available as well as access to all Kid Zone activities, including bounce houses, a giant slide, mini-golf and face painting. All race participants will receive a commemorative running tech shirt and admission to the tournament and any past participant who refers a new 5K participant will receive a free hat.

Competitive registration is $30 for adults, $20 for ages 17 and younger and $70 for a family. Noncompetitive registration is $25 for adults, $15 for ages 17 and younger and $55 for a family. Registration costs will increase by $5 for each division on Monday, Oct. 1.

Yates Mill DAR seeking relatives of veterans buried at Hillcrest

The Yates Mill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a Wreaths Across America ceremony on Dec. 8 at Hillcrest Cemetery.
