Holly Springs announced in an email to media on Wednesday that head football coach Will Orbin has resigned after two seasons leading the Golden Hawks.

Orbin went 4-6 in his first year before going 6-6 last season, finishing third in the Southwest Wake Athletic Conference and making the postseason for the second time in school history.

The email stated that Orbin plans to continue teaching at the school and the process for hiring a new coach will begin immediately.

Orbin was the third coach in Holly Springs’ school history. He was hired after being an offensive coordinator at Leesville Road. David Riggs (two seasons) and the late Jim Hynus preceded him.

“Holly Springs is lucky to have had coach Orbin lead our football program for two years,” Andy Wheeler, the Holly Springs athletics director, said in the announcement. “He has taken our program to another level of success both on and off the field. We appreciate his leadership and we will build on the success from his time here.”
