Police charge man with robbing Arby’s restaurant in Cary in August

From staff reportsFebruary 5, 2014

— A Holly Springs man was charged with robbing an Arby’s restaurant in Cary last summer.

Holly Springs police arrested Derek Allan Carey, 25, of 104 Timber Springs on Tuesday.

Cary police charged Carey with robbery with a dangerous weapon, financial card fraud and forgery and identity theft. Police say he used a woman’s cloned American Express credit card to buy $763 worth of merchandise before the Aug. 12 robbery at the restaurant.

In that incident, police say a gunman stole $1,379.

A magistrate set Shore’s bail at $150,000, noting he was put on three years’ probation in September 2012 for a common law robbery conviction in Wake County.

Carey was being held without bond, Wake County records showed, because he is listed as a probation absconder after being convicted in Cumberland and Wake counties a year ago for thefts from a store.
