Cary Girl Scouts earn Silver Awards

Julia Eason, Mai Le, Megan Pugsley and Meghna Sharma of Cary, members of Troop 766, earned Silver Awards, the second-highest achievement in Girl Scouting. As part of their project, Cancer Care Packages, the scouts researched the needs of cancer patients, made care packages and handed out packages at Rex Hospital. They also hosted a Party with a Purpose to make hand-written notes for patients. They also documented their work so that other groups could make Cancer Care Packages.

Fuquay-Varina Girl Scout earns Silver Award

Gabrielle Flynn of Fuquay-Varina, a member of Troop 1815, earned the Silver Award, the second-highest achievement in Girl Scouting. For her project, she made a series of letterboxes throughout Fuquay-Varina and made a how-to guide for her Girl Scout Service Unit’s library. Letterboxing is a treasure-hunt-like outdoor hobby similar to geo-caching. She is the daughter of Kevin and Cecily Flynn.
