More high school graduates cross the stage, begin a new chapter

Holly Springs High School

Number of graduates: 539

Sum of scholarships awarded: $5.4 million

Valedictorian: Nicholas Toma

Salutatorian: Jodi Stone

Advice from valedictorian: “I see a lot of people sell themselves short when things get tough,” Toma said. “Why not you? Why can’t you be successful? Give it all you’ve got and don’t let anyone tell you you’re not good enough.”

Lessons learned: “You can learn a little bit from everybody,” Toma said. “It helped me succeed. Everything happens for a reason, and I never got worked up if something didn’t work out.”

Middle Creek High School

Number of graduates: 398

Sum of scholarships awarded: $2.5 million

Class motto: Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.

Valedictorian: Aakash Mehta

Salutatorian: Courtney Hoffmesiter

Class president: Lauren Sugarman

Advice from valedictorian: “You shouldn’t put things off,” Mehta said. “Don’t procrastinate, because it’s just a waste of time. Time management is the key to being successful.”

Lessons learned: “Put 110 percent into everything you do,” Mehta said. “Put in effort to be successful and to do what you want to do in life.”
