Auction for the Animals
The 14th annual Auction for the Animals fundraiser for Second Chance Pet Adoptions will be from 7-11 p.m. at Prestonwood Country Club, 300 Prestonwood Parkway, Cary. WakeMed Cary Hospital will sponsor a screening of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at dusk, around 8:30 p.m., at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary.
Tickets are $3, free for kids younger than 12. A portion of proceeds will benefit the WakeMed Childrens Hospital. Picnics are allowed, but pets are not. Wet down ceremony
The Morrisville Fire Department will host a wet down ceremony for a new fire truck from 2-4 p.m. at Fire Station 1, 200 Town Hall Drive. Fire department staff will hose down the new apparatus, and participants will dry it off. The department encourages children to wear swimsuits and slip-resistant shoes to participate. There will also be cotton candy, drinks and tours of the fire truck.
West Regional Library will host Stacey Cochran and Rysa Walker for a discussion with anyone interested in publishing their own writing at 2:30 p.m. at 4000 Louis Stephens Drive, Cary.
